Understanding sign language may be difficult for the uninitiated. That is why a group of Chinese designers has created a series of accessories to translate this language into sound and text. Gadgets that will facilitate communication between deaf and hearing person.
This is actually a sign language translator consists of a bracelet and a series of rings. Worn together, they can detect and track the movement of the user's fingers. These actions will then be translated into voice, witch the other person can hear via a built-in speaker. This one is also able to translate voice into text so that the person who wear it can read on a small screen of the accessory. It is possible to save in advance gestures of fingers and hands with their corresponding meaning. This allows the system to recognise and easily translate signs. After each use, the rings can be stored in a space hidden inside the bracelet.
The concept won the Red Holds Design Award. It is the fruit of the imagination of Cao Zu-Wei, Hu Ya-Chun, Huang Ching-Lan, Liao Po Yang, Tsai Yu-Chi and Yang Yi-Hsien.
