In an email sent to developers tonight, Apple announced that it had a hacking attempt of its Dev Center including identification downloads of betas of iOS and OS X. The Dev Center is dedicated to developers, Apple announced rightly that some personal data may have been recovered. It is currently impossible to give a first judgment, the Cupertino company does not reveal more. Among the data , the names of developers , email addresses as well as their addresses are potentially affected. The Dev Center has been closed since Thursday afternoon, it will remain closed until further notice. A reopening date is not yet revealed.
Engineers are on the spot since Thursday and still are today. They are responsible for making the necessary updating server software and rebuilding the database. Although not discussed, it appears that passwords may also have been hacked. Apple emailed several developers asking them to reset their password. It may very well be a prevention, however.
