The Death Of Windows XP On April 2014

Windows XP has been one of the most widely used operating system in the world, but the new releases from Microsoft cause definitely, as previous OS, the death of XP. Specifically on April 8, 2014, Microsoft will no longer support the latest operating system of Windows XP, the XP Service Pack 3 (SP3). With means that it will no longer launch security updates, patches or bug fixes for the system, and no support will be offered technically as well. In addition Microsoft will no longer support Microsoft Office 2003, one of the most popular office software. So, the only solution is to upgrade computers to a newer version, such as Windows 8 and Office 2013.

"Windows XP still has more than 30% of the market for desktop operating systems"

Windows XP was sold by Microsoft in the first version in 2001. The Service Pack 3 was released in 2008 as a set of improvements and new features added to previous versions of XP. Despite being a product with more than 12 years old, according to Net Market Share, Windows XP still has more than 30% of the market for desktop operating systems, over other latest ones, such as Windows 8 (8.02%) or Mac OS X 10.8 (3.69%) .. Just behind Windows 7, with a 46.39% market share. in terms of users and licenses, this ratio means that the Windows XP operating system is present at about 500 million computers around the world, from household appliances to small and medium computers. This permanence is due both to economic reasons, and the quality of this version of Windows against some of its successors.

The main problem for users and companies who are still using Windows XP on their computers is that the risk from threats increases. Also, because of the lack of protection and the high number of computers running Windows XP, the operating system will be the focus of hackers who seek new vulnerabilities to gain remote control of the computer and have access to confidential information and user credentials.

In conclusion, who doesn't love XP ? it's easy to use and also fast, but when it comes to security we should choose the best, to protect our files and also our life, as almost everything we do is on our computers. So, if you have a computer that can run Windows 7 or 8, why not upgrading ?
