Dino Pet is a new kind of living toy. Presented as a small dinosaur, it can glow in the dark to interact with the user. No need for battery or electricity, the gadget is based on bioluminescence to function naturally.
Developed by BioPop, "Dino contains within dinoflagellates, micro algae that can produce light by bioluminescence, once their cell membrane stimulated mechanically. Result, the toy can be used as mood lamp night. Designed as a pet, just feed regularly with plankton for the dinosaur to remain functional. With a bit of indirect light and a little shake, magic happens and Dino glows.
The Dino Pet is currently available for pre-order for $60, and is expected to begin shipping in mid-October. As for the food, the Dino Pet comes with enough to keep the plankton alive and glowing for around two to six months, but refills can be bought for $15 when you run out. And if your glowing army dies out completely, or you just want to use your own container, a refill of the dinoflagellates can also be purchased for $50.
